Within days of each other, two leading hotel groups have unveiled concepts built around wellness and reconnection. In Dubai, JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai has introduced Aurōm, a botanical beverage laboratory and specialty coffee destination. In the Maldives, Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa has opened ŪRJĀ Naturopathy Island, a naturopathic health destination. Although uncoordinated, the pairing of these two initiatives illustrates an underlying trend that a number of major hotel groups are now pursuing with growing consistency.
Dubai: Aurōm reinvents the beverage ritual

Located in the heart of Business Bay, JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai is pursuing a property-wide renovation programme, of which Aurōm is among the most distinctive concepts. Developed in collaboration with The Herball and botanical expert Michael Isted, the venue combines botanical science, precision coffee and immersive hospitality to offer a new approach to non-alcoholic drinking.
The name Aurōm draws on the Latin aurum, meaning gold, evoking notions of refinement and transformation, with a nod to the region’s pearl-diving heritage. The concept explores the intersection of precision coffee, botanical extraction, fermentation and mindful consumption, positioning itself as an alternative to conventional coffee culture. The interior design combines botanical tones, luminous metallics, brushed gold and pearlescent finishes, in a mood that is at once mystical and contemporary. The opening is scheduled for September 2026.
Maldives: ŪRJĀ opens a new chapter in wellness
Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa has, for its part, unveiled ŪRJĀ Naturopathy Island, presented as a new chapter in holistic care in the archipelago. The name, drawn from Sanskrit and meaning vitality, denotes a wellness destination combining naturopathic principles with scientific expertise. The stated ambition is to shift the focus from surface-level relaxation towards a deeper restoration of the body.
The initiative builds on Four Seasons’ well-established positioning in the health and longevity segment in the Maldives, a destination where the group already operates a portfolio of landmark resorts, including Kuda Huraa and Landaa Giraavaru.
Part of a broader shift in luxury hospitality
These two launches are not isolated cases. They confirm a strategic direction already documented across several international hotel groups, echoing the alliance formed between Therme Group and Marriott International around wellness, as well as the strategy pursued by Accor across its luxury and lifestyle portfolio, where wellness concepts and destination restaurants are positioned as fully-fledged ancillary revenue drivers.
The École Hôtelière de Lausanne’s Hospitality Outlook 2026 report had already pointed in this direction, identifying immersive experiences and regenerative hospitality among the five major trends set to shape the sector. Aurōm and ŪRJĀ each offer a concrete expression of this, in their own way: one through F&B and social ritual, the other through care and preventive health.
What this means for operators and investors
For asset managers and hotel groups, these initiatives confirm that wellness is no longer confined to the traditional spa. It now runs through the entire value chain of a property, from F&B to architectural design and experience programming. This positioning responds to an increasingly international clientele focused on the quality of their time, rather than simply the accumulation of services.
Even so, the profitability of these concepts will depend on their ability to generate regular footfall beyond the hotel’s resident guests — a classic operational challenge for this kind of design-intensive F&B and wellness offer.
