Accor has inaugurated the Financial City Chengdu – MGallery Collection, a 155-key boutique hotel located in the heart of Chengdu’s financial district in western China. It is the third MGallery Collection property in the city and the tenth for the brand nationwide, a milestone that confirms the growing momentum of Accor in China, where the group now counts more than 230 hotels in operation and a further 140 in development in the west of the country.
A boutique hotel inspired by Tang-dynasty poetry
Designed by Australian firm Stack Studio, the property draws inspiration from the poem Song of Chengdu by Tang-dynasty poet Zhang Ji, and from the image of a secret lychee orchard. A century-old lychee tree planted at the hotel’s entrance brings this concept to life from the moment guests arrive.
Seven storeys up, the Sky Garden extends this narrative with a landscaped rooftop terrace conceived as a haven suspended above the city. The design as a whole seeks to express the duality between earthly grounding and celestial aspiration that shapes the property’s identity.
A residential-style design tailored to business travellers
Located in Chengdu’s southern business and leisure district, the hotel offers 155 rooms and suites whose interiors translate the region’s river mists and sunsets into contemporary living spaces. The design aims to meet the expectations of demanding business travellers as well as those seeking a more restful stay.
A dining offer rooted in Sichuan’s culinary heritage
The Lychee restaurant serves fusion cuisine combining international influences with regional specialities, while the Lychee Bar offers MGallery Collection’s signature cocktails alongside a traditional tea service. The Sky Garden rounds out the offering with artisanal drinks served in an elevated, plant-filled setting.
Event spaces and wellness facilities
The hotel features close to 480 sqm of flexible space for corporate seminars, banquets and private receptions. Its fitness centre, with panoramic glazing opening onto an outdoor terrace, completes the offering for business and leisure travellers alike.
A building envelope designed for energy efficiency
The property incorporates a range of environmental efficiency measures, including reduced single-use plastics, smart in-room energy management, low-emissivity (Low-E) thermal glass facades, water-saving fixtures, magnetic-levitation chilled water units, and fully LED lighting.
Chengdu, a pillar of Accor’s development in western China
For Kent Zhu, Accor’s General Manager for China, Chengdu is a pillar of the group’s strategy in the west of the country, a region where upscale and luxury hospitality is enjoying sustained growth. He notes that the city’s cultural heritage and energy provide a fitting backdrop for the storytelling that defines the MGallery brand.
With ten hotels now open in China, MGallery Collection aims to double its Greater China network by 2030, with openings already planned in Pujiang, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Sanya and Lanxi. Internationally, the brand counts more than 120 hotels in over 40 countries and is set to welcome new properties in 2026, including the V Villas Maldives at Mirihi and the Navera Phuket. This momentum forms part of the wider development strategy of the group’s Luxury & Lifestyle division, driven by a sustained pace of signings worldwide.
The hotel is part of the ALL – Accor Live Limitless loyalty programme, whose free membership gives guests access to preferential rates and the ability to earn points across the group’s entire network.
