2030, United Kingdom | Virgin orders 12 high-speed trains from Alstom to challenge Eurostar on cross-Channel routes

Virgin has placed a firm order with Alstom for 12 Avelia Stream high-speed trainsets, worth between €650 million and €700 million. The operator plans 13 daily return services between Paris and London from 2030, before extending its offer to Brussels and Amsterdam. It thus becomes Eurostar's first competitor since the Channel Tunnel opened, with an onboard experience inspired by Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Voyages and Virgin Hotels.

Adagio, Europe's leading aparthotel operator, has announced the renewal of its partnership with the London Stadium in east London. In place since 2022, the agreement strengthens the group's accommodation offering for spectators, event professionals, teams and partners attending the venue, as part of its FIRST 2030 strategic plan.

France | Adagio Renews Three-Year Partnership with the Plenitude Arena

Adagio, Europe's leading aparthotel operator, announced on 8 July 2026 the three-year renewal of its Gold partnership with the Plenitude Arena, Europe's largest indoor arena, located in La Défense. Launched in February 2024, the collaboration forms part of the group's FIRST 2030 strategic plan and aims to combine flexible accommodation with proximity to the capital's major sporting and cultural events.

New hospitality, Scotland | Inverlonan opens a “landscape hotel” on the shores of Loch Nell, near Oban

The Scottish estate Inverlonan will open a nine-bedroom landscape hotel and a 24-cover restaurant on the shores of Loch Nell, around 6.5km east of Oban, in November 2026. Built around the restoration of the historic Ballygowan farmstead, the project extends the off-grid bothy offering launched by the estate in 2020 into a more structured accommodation format, underpinned by a certified organic farming operation.

Hilton is stepping up the rollout of its premium-economy brand Spark by Hilton in the UK with the signing of ten hotels, representing almost 700 rooms.
